Shows the junction very clearly, including a train length worth of double line clear of the main line before the single line starts.

Even, This photo is a points indicator, in ARTC Track Control, it is telling you that the points are set for the main in Parkeston, they do not have signals, even though they look like them, if it is Green the points are set for the straight, if yellow, it means the points are set for the loop, and if it is Red it means the points are moving, notice the R under the signal stand, which means it is a REPEATER indicator and telling you what the switch is doing at the entrance to Parkeston. As of Maratarna Bridge in Kalgoorlie, becomes ARTC. The last signal in Westnet terretory is in fact a Starter signal, as you are starting into another controlled service track access terretory. To be technical I guess you could call it a signal but its real name is a points indercator. Hope this helps your learning on your trip.

This coach is AL 88, it used to be the WAGR commisioners coach. It has wooden bogie bolsters and is over 100 years old i think.

John, I agree its good to see these coachs back on the mainline for a short time, I would love to see these behind S549 and see it climb the Avon Valley.

Evan, You & your camera take terrific shots-I use a Nikon D40-I'd like to explore night photography at East end Forrestfield yard lighting is an issue. Have you had experience -Shutter Speeds /Exposures etc? Great stuff

Greg, Thank you for that great comment, The nikon D50 is a great camera, my girlfiend has a D40 and she gets great results, East end of Forrestfield isnt the idea spot to grab photos so I cant help you there, I usally leave mine on P with everything except when I want to use it at night with flash then I leave it on Auto. Give me a email and we should meet up!
